About Sudesh Banaji
Born and educated in India, Sudesh Banaji embarked on his academic journey at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala in Mysore, where he distinguished himself in the sciences. His academic excellence led him to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at JJM Medical College, affiliated with the University of Mysore, laying a solid foundation for his medical career.
Upon completing his medical degree in 1987, Sudesh undertook a rigorous rotating internship at Chigateri General Hospital in Davangere. This training phase covered diverse areas such as surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology, providing him with a broad medical knowledge base. His interest in anesthesiology took him to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, where he completed his residency from 1989 to 1993. He conducted significant research culminating in a publication on the neuromuscular blocking properties of different drugs in pediatric patients.
His pursuit of advanced medical training led Sudesh to the United States in 1993. After successfully passing the U.S. medical licensing exams, he joined the Anesthesiology Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He later moved to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City for his Internal Medicine Residency. Here, he honed his skills in managing adult healthcare, chronic illness, and preventive care, earning the title of “Outstanding Internal Medicine Resident” in 1998.
In 2000, Sudesh Banaji relocated to Forrest City, Arkansas, where he began his U.S. medical practice. His initial roles included working in a private practice and serving as an emergency room physician. He extended his service to the community through his work at a local hospital-affiliated clinic from 2002 to 2004, providing essential care to underprivileged patients.
Sudesh founded Internal Medicine of Forrest City in 2005, where he serves as the senior partner and director. Under his leadership, the practice has embraced value-based care initiatives such as the Patient-Centered Medical Home and Comprehensive Primary Care Plus, focusing on delivering personalized and efficient healthcare. His practice also encompasses caring for special needs adults and senior citizens, enhancing the quality of life for these vulnerable groups.
